DistortionLab's new low-tech (hi-tech) EP was recorded experimentally on a Samsung Note 8 using a variety of apps, mainly 'Audio Evolution'. The project began as an exploration into mobile recording and a play around with the apps but overtime evolved into something more serious. The equipment was low-tech (for music industry standards) as the only mics used were either on the phone or through the mic on the Samsung earphones. The notion of recording, mixing and mastering an EP with an object that can be held in the palm of your hand is super hi-tech and unimaginable 20 years ago.

 Adele's Lullaby: I sang an impromtu lullaby one night to my partner to help her sleep. The next morning I went down stairs to my tuned down piano and recorded it. |
JazzyMacJazzFaceRadio: This began as a jazzy guitar riff I was messing around with. I recorded the parts on a loop pedal then uploaded it to my mobile. Lyrics: We missed the revolution, as we watched it on the television. Dreaming of a situation, where we find a true solution. Searching for forever answers, to the never question. On a suicide mission, To end our evolution. Curb our fascination. End our sense of reason. It's the season of the self. Selfish satisfaction. I poke you in your personal, social media, medicated mind, and I don't get a reaction. I don't get a reaction. I'm down with the blues. The no hope news. Everyone is screwed, and there's nothing they can do. There are no more new tunes. Nothing left to choose from the single minded muse. For the music is mundane, driving me insane, a miss lead rouse. Rousing my confusion, Losin conclusion, as I blow my fuse. |
